Either way they will both be in the lineup every day, meaning teams in the American League Central should probably be thanking their lucky stars that there is an extra wild card team this season.

 

Fielder finished third in the voting for the National League Most Valuable Player last year after batting .299 with 38 homers and 120 RBI.

 

A three-time All-Star and career .282 hitter, Fielder has missed one game in the past three seasons.

 

Over 14 seasons with the Indians, Expos, White Sox, Angels, Red Sox and Yankees, the two-time All Star has a 161-113 career record with a 4.09 ERA in 357 games -- 351 starts.
